Group Bibliotherapy

Have you ever witnessed the healing power of books in action?
While writing my book, Bibliotherapy: The Healing Power of Reading, one of the most moving chapters for me was Chapter 9—on Group Bibliotherapy. It tells the story of Reena, Devi, Deborah, and Amee, who turned to shared reading after experiencing the unimaginable loss of young children or miscarriages. Writing this chapter was incredibly difficult, but also deeply affirming—because it showed just how transformative group bibliotherapy can be in navigating grief, loss, and complex emotions.
Through carefully selected poetry and literature, these women found connection, understanding, and hope—not just in the words, but in each other. This is the power of shared reading, and it's exactly why I created my latest course: Group Bibliotherapy Skills.
Many readers reached out after reading this chapter, asking for guidance on how to facilitate meaningful group bibliotherapy sessions in their own communities, book clubs, and spaces. This course was born from that need.
If you're a book club facilitator, therapist, librarian, educator, or simply someone who believes in the healing power of books, this course will equip you with the skills, structure, and confidence to lead bibliotherapy groups that foster deep reflection and emotional support.
For those who’ve already joined—thank you! I hope it’s been a valuable experience. And if you’re curious, I’d love for you to explore it here. Or our introductory Online Course on Bibliotherapy, Literature & Mental Health.
Because books don’t just tell stories—they heal.
Do reach out if you have any questions! I love hearing from others interested in this space :)
